Active Blackpool are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our Leisure Assistant team.
Successful candidates will be able to work on their own initiative but also able to work to instruction as part of a team.
The role involves effective supervision of bathers in a wet side environment. In addition to supervising poolside the successful candidate will demonstrate good cleaning standards and will have attention to detail.
At Active Blackpool’s dry site successful candidates will ensure equipment is setup on time and is fit for purpose in addition to cleaning tasks.

Leisure Assistants are responsible for pool discipline and constant vigilance of bather’s activities.
The successful candidate will be required to:
- Ensure throughout the day that cleaning and inspection processes are followed and the facility is maintained to a safe and clean level.
- Keep up-to-date knowledge of the facilities programme and requirements of a multi-use facility.
- Ensure that knowledge of products, sales procedures and activities are up-to-date.
- Maintain training hours in accordance with NPLQ guidelines and maintain their NPLQ qualification.
- Be well presented at all times with clean uniform, name badge and a neat and tidy appearance.
- Provide excellent standards of customer service and follow the staff pledge.
- Complete membership ‘show rounds’ as and when necessary, with a view to sign up new members.
- Ensure that all equipment is safe for use, available and set out for the customer.
- Accurately complete all paperwork required on a daily basis.
You will be responsible for the provision of excellent customer services and the day to day operation of the Centre, including cleaning and maintenance, preparation of areas and equipment for sessions as appropriate, maintaining a safe pool environment through excellent lifeguarding practices and attendance at regular pool training.
You should possess a National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) together with a First Aid qualification Alternatively you should be capable of obtaining the NPLQ within 1 month.
