Membership Terms and Conditions at Active Blackpool
We know they’re not the most exciting read, but it’s important you know the terms and conditions of your membership.
Please read through the information so you understand what your signing up to.
a) The council have absolute discretion on whether to accept any member for the centre. If accepted, all membership commence from the date of application.
b) Each member will be issued with a Active Blackpool ‘Leisure Card’ swipe card personal to them-this is produced at reception on every visit.
c) Members must notify us if their membership card is lost, and a replacement must be obtained.
d) To allow us to correspond with you, please advise us of any change of address/contact details as soon as practicable.
e) All full memberships include use of Blackpool Sports Centre, Palatine Leisure Centre and Moor Park Health and Leisure Centre. With the exception of Simply Swim, Learn 2 Swim, Rookie Lifeguard and Adult swimming memberships that are for use at Moor Park and Palatine only.
f) All memberships require payment from one bank account only.
g) A family membership is for 2 adults and any children 17 and under residing at the same address. Joint members must reside at the same address.
h) Your membership is personal to you. You cannot transfer it to another person.
i) All memberships and the terms and conditions attached thereto are enforceable only by the original members and the council and any rights of any persons to enforce any terms and conditions thereof pursuant to the contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 are excluded.
j) Your personal information will be used to process your membership with Active Blackpool and record your attendance to our facilities. We will contact you regarding your membership using the contact information and preferences you have provided.
k) We will share your personal information with our external partners to enable us to manage your membership and communicate with you. Our partners will not share your data with any third parties nor will they use it to contact you directly. l) We will use the information to maintain statistical records of how many people use the facilities but we will anonymise your information when we create the statistics.
m) Blackpool Council is the data controller for the personal information you have provided in this form. The council’s data protection officer can be contacted at DPA@blackpool.gov.uk
n) We are allowed to ask for your personal information to enable us to process your reservations and the payments you make to us and to update you of any changes to the availability of facilities or the cost of your membership

a) A valid Direct Debit mandate form must accompany all membership applications where a Member wishes to pay by the method.
b) Incorrect account details may result in temporary termination of membership, which will be reinstated upon confirmation of the correct details.
c) You must complete a new mandate if you change your bank account and pass to the Centre at which you joined no later than the 22 day of the month prior to the collection on the 4 day of the following month.
d) Direct Debit can only be requested on the 4th of the following month. In the event of the 4th being the weekend or a bank holiday, payment will be requested n the next working day.
e) Memberships continue on a monthly rolling basis.
f) You can cancel in writing by the 15 day of the month to cancel by the next Direct Debit date.
All correspondence relating to the cancellation of your membership must be by one of the following methods:
- Completing the cancellation form available on our website. When submitted, you will received an automated response as evidence of receipt of your cancellation request.
- Completing the cancellation form available at reception. Please ensure a member of staff signs the form, and that you receive a copy as evidence of receipt of your cancellation request.
It is your responsibility to ensure we have received your cancellation; otherwise we reserve the right to continue to request payments from your account.
If no evidence of cancellation can be provided by yourself, a new cancellation request will be required, with the applicable notice period taken from the new request date.
g) A pro-rata payment and joining fee is required upon application for all Direct Debit memberships until the first available entry date into the Direct Debit agreement.
h) We reserve the right to increase the membership fee at any time, but no more than once per year and we will give you at least 1 months’ notice in writing of any proposed increase.
Membership applications paying by this method can be accepted if payment is received in one of the following forms.
- Cash in full
- Cheque – accompanied by cheque guarantee card
- Credit card or Visa or Mastercard
- Debit card
a) Your membership will commence from the date payment is made and will remain valid for a 12 month period.
b) Annual membership payments are non-refundable.
a) All members must have read and understood the health commitment statement with regards to exercising in Active Blackpool facilities. The health commitment statement is on display in both the reception and gym areas of all facilities.
a) The council may refuse a member entry to any facility if it appears that his or her conduct or appearance is inappropriate.
b) Disorderly, rude or offensive behaviour may result in termination of the membership.
c) Lockers are provided for the use of members but the council accept no responsibility for theft of or damage to any items placed therein – the use of such lockers being at the rise of the members using the same.
d) Water is provided for the use of members but receptacles for use must be provided by the members – use of the water cooler without a receptacle is prohibited.
