Every year at Active Blackpool we come together to recognise, celebrate, and reflect on the role that sport plays within our community; from grassroots to the elite.
Its our privilege to give our local stars the chance to shine and share their stories of success.

The 2024 Active Community Awards took place on Friday 27th September at Blackpool’s iconic Winter Gardens, a fitting location to celebrate the heroes in our town.

This award given to someone who has excelled as a coach or activator, be it by performance with results or by demonstrating outstanding hard work, dedication and good practice.
They should be a coach that is highly respected by the opposition and fellow participants and should be someone who really stands out from the crowd working to provide the best opportunities to help those interested in sport and physical activity achieve their full potential within the community.
This award is given to an active sports club or organisation that has undertaken great work in running development programmes, activities or sessions which attract and retain participants whilst encouraging more people to live active lifestyles.
This award is given to a volunteer who has given up their free time to support and promote active lifestyles in a non-coaching capacity at a sports club.
This award is given to a young person who has given up their free time to help and support a sports club or organisation in delivering or supporting individuals to get involved in opportunities provided.
These young people will be the backbone of sporting opportunities in the future.
This award is given to a primary school that has excelled and gone above and beyond to support their pupil’s physical and mental health though providing varying opportunities and provision for all to access.
This award is given to a secondary school that has excelled and gone above and beyond to support their pupil’s physical and mental health though providing varying opportunities and provision for all to access.
This award given to an individual who has shown a consistent lifetime commitment of 20 or more years and made a major contribution to community sport in Blackpool.
This award is for some of the most talented young sporting performers from Blackpool aged from 9 to 13 years old.
They should show exceptional dedication to their sport and have the potential to perform at the highest level. Nominations are encouraged from those who have represented their county/region/country in their sport.
This award is for some of the most talented young sporting performers from Blackpool aged from 14 to 21 years old.
They should show exceptional dedication to their sport and have the potential to perform at the highest level. Nominations are encouraged from those who have represented their county/region/country in their sport.
This award is given to an elite athlete from Blackpool aged over 12 years old, who has had an outstanding year of achievement in their sport.
This award is given to an individual or group that has gone the extra mile within their community to support others to participate in physical activity, providing alternative opportunities that have made a difference.
Nominations are encouraged from non-traditional sports clubs or backgrounds.
This award shines a light on those supporting others with their physiological health, mental wellbeing, health management or any of the wider outcomes supported by physical activity and sport, emphasising the vital role that being physically active plays in supporting health outcomes.
Nominations are encouraged from organisations, projects and individuals.
This award is given to those advocating for sustainability through actions that support environmental health, conservation efforts, resource management, or any broader outcomes bolstered by eco-conscious practices.
The nominee can be an individual or group and should be recognised for championing the critical role that sustainable living plays in fostering a healthier planet for current and future generations.
