Walking Sports at Active Blackpool

Do you love the camaraderie of team sports, but are worried you don’t quite have the pace you used to?

Well worry no more, just try the walking version!

Walking sports are great fun whatever your age whether you’ve played the sport before or not.

Joining in is a great way of being active at any skill level and will help to build your strength, endurance and agility whilst also being low impact on your joints.

You don’t need to book, so just come along and give it a go!

Walking Cricket

Delivered in partnership with Blackpool Football Club Community Trust and the Lancashire Cricket Foundation, Walking Cricket is a relaxed, slower-paced way to enjoy the game in a friendly, supportive environment.

 

It’s perfect for anyone living with a long-term health condition or simply looking to ease back into being more active.

 

With a low-impact approach, it’s a great way to build confidence, meet new people and enjoy moving again, at a pace that suits you.

Walking Football

Walking Football is a unique, small‑sided version of the game that mirrors traditional football but at a slower, more manageable pace making it suitable for all abilities and fitness levels.

 

The slower format reduces impact while still offering a great way to stay active, improve fitness and build confidence on the pitch.

 

It’s also a brilliant social activity, giving you the chance to meet new people, have fun and enjoy being part of a team again.

Walking Netball

Walking Netball is a slower-paced, more relaxed version of the game you know and love, designed to make netball accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

 

Sessions are welcoming, sociable and played at a steady pace, making them ideal for all abilities, whether you’re returning to activity, building confidence or simply looking for a fun way to keep moving.

 

It’s a great way to stay active, meet new people and rediscover your love of the game in a supportive environment.

 

Venue – Palatine Leisure Centre

Time – 1.00pm – First Steps, for new players

Time – 2.00pm – Next Steps, for experienced player

Walking Rugby

In partnership with Fylde Rugby Community Foundation, Walking Rugby is a fun, inclusive way to add gentle activity to your week, with sessions designed to suit all abilities and experience levels, from seasoned players to complete beginners.

 

Played at a slower pace with reduced contact, it’s an easy, sociable team game that focuses on enjoyment, movement and connection.

 

There’s no need for previous experience or special equipment, just come along, get involved and enjoy being part of a relaxed, supportive environment.

How do you book a Walking Sports Session?

Booking a session is easy on our Active Blackpool App.

 

Just choose the site you want to visit, select make a booking and choose the Active Communities Session option.

 

If it’s the first time you’ve used the app, you’ll need your email address and password which you will set when you take out your membership.  If you don’t have one, please speak to a member of staff and they will be happy to help you set your account up.
