Become a Lifeguard
Become a Liefuard at Active Blackpool
If you’re interested working as a Lifeguard, you’ll need a Lifeguard Qualification.
At Active Blackpool we deliver Royal Life Saving Society certified National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ) courses throughout the year, so why not get your qualification with us.
What is the National Pool Lifeguard Qualification?
The RLSS NPLQ is the most awarded and trusted lifeguard qualification in the UK and Ireland.
Currently over 90,000 lifeguards hold the NPLQ, including all of those we employ at Active Blackpool!
The course will teach you all elements of Pool Rescue Techniques, Lifeguarding Theory, First Aid and CPR.
It will be physically and mentally demanding, with sessions in the pool and in the classroom.
You will need to be able to attend the whole course. If you miss any session you will not have enough training hours and will therefore not be able to be put forward to take the end of course assessment.
What do I need to do to pass the assessment?
The end of course assessment will determine your knowledge and understanding of the principles of working as a pool lifeguard and assesses your ability to apply the skills and knowledge in a work-related environment.
The assessment is spilt into three sections; you must pass all of the sections to gain the qualification.
Practical pool assessment
You must demonstrate the skills you have learned by performing pool rescue techniques correctly and completing a timed rescue swim.
Theory assessment
This is a multiple choice question paper that must be passed, it covers all areas of theory and practical skills that you will learn on your course.
Practical First Aid & CPR assessment
You must demonstrate the skills you have learned by dealing with first aid scenarios effectively and simulating CPR.
