The 2025 Active Blackpool Community Awards took place on Friday 26th September at Blackpool’s iconic Winter Gardens, a fitting location to celebrate the heroes in our town.

This award recognises an outstanding coach who has demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication and success in guiding athletes or teams.

The recipient has made a significant impact on their sport through innovative coaching techniques, fostering a positive environment and achieving remarkable results.

This award celebrates a primary school that has excelled in promoting health, wellbeing and physical activity through innovative and inclusive approaches.

The school will have demonstrated a strong commitment to embedding physical activity across the school day, creating a positive culture that encourages all pupils to be active, confident and engaged.

Particular recognition will be given to schools that have embraced the School Games ethos, actively promoted Girls’ Football and prioritised Inclusion, ensuring every child, regardless of background, ability or gender, has equal access to meaningful and enjoyable physical activity opportunities.

In addition, the school will have taken steps to support healthy lifestyles more broadly, including education around diet and nutrition, empowering pupils to make informed choices that contribute to their overall wellbeing.

Through a diverse range of activities, pathways and a culture that values both physical wellbeing and academic success, the school has created an environment where every young person is encouraged to move more, be confident and supported to lead a healthy, balanced lifestyle.

The recipient has developed programs or initiatives that promote active lifestyles, improved wellbeing and actively supports patients or the community by signposting and making referrals to relevant activities and programmes.

This award celebrates a healthcare practice that has gone beyond to promote movement, health and wellbeing among patients, staff and the wider community.

The practice has embedded active conversations into everyday care, encouraging people to move more as part of a healthy lifestyle.

Through initiatives such as the Parkrun Practice initiative, the Active Practice Charter and by signposting or referring individuals to local activities and programmes, the practice has demonstrated a clear commitment to reducing inactivity and improving physical and mental wellbeing for all.

The team has led meaningful system change by embedding movement into policies, practices and services, making it a core component of their approach to improving population health.
