How Our Kids Learn 2 Swim Programme Works
We follow Swim England’s Learn to Swim pathway so you can be assured that your child will be able to develop the essential skills they need to be confident, competent and safe in the water.
Our welcoming, encouraging and experienced swimming teachers will make sure your child thrives in a safe and supportive environment.

Introduction to Water & Parent Involvement
Perfect for babies under 2 years and children new to swimming. Discovery Ducklings introduces water through fun activities with parent support. As children grow, Ducklings (for children over 2 years) helps them gain more independence in the water, still with parents involved.

Building Confidence & Core Skills
Advanced Ducklings focuses on developing essential swimming skills, including glides and jumps, with adult support. Tiddlers (for children 3 years and older) is a leap toward independent swimming, with kids learning to jump, float, and swim short distances on their own.

Refining Skills for Young Swimmers
A step up from Tiddlers, Advanced Tiddlers teaches more complex skills like combined strokes, submersion, and gliding to prepare children for the Learn to Swim Framework (Stages 1-7).
Progression to Independent Swimming
Once children are confident in the water, they move into the Learn to Swim stages, where they’ll focus on stroke technique, distance swimming, water safety, and more. This framework builds the skills needed for confident, independent swimmers.

Learn 2 Swim Lessons
Is your child school age and looking to make a splash in swimming lessons?
Whether they have no swimming ability at all or have had lessons before, we can help them develop their skills and build their confidence in a safe and positive environment.
Rookie Lifeguard Lessons
Are you looking to develop your child’s water safety skills and give them competence and confidence in water outside of the safety of their swimming lessons?

At Active Blackpool, we have a great team of teachers on our learn 2 swim lessons.
Each bringing their own experience and personality to their lessons whilst ensuring that your children receive quality swimming instruction.
Here’s a bit more information about our Learn 2 Swim lessons.
We have swimming lessons from Monday to Saturday across Moor Park and Palatine Leisure Centres.
Pre School lessons are held during the day on Monday and Thursday at Moor Park and on Monday and Friday at Palatine.
Learn to Swim lessons are held after school every weekday and during the day on Saturday at Moor Park; they are held after school on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at Palatine.
Rookie lessons are held after school on Tuesday at Moor Park and after school on Friday at Palatine.

Our Swimming lessons run for 50 weeks of the year with two weeks off for a Christmas break. We do not have any swimming lessons on Bank Holidays.
All of our Pre School and Learn to Swim lessons are 25 minutes long.
Rookie lessons are 40 minutes long.
We offer two ways to pay for swimming lessons, the easiest being by Direct Debit.
A Direct Debit costs just £25.60 per month and also include free swimming for your child in any Active Blackpool family or casual swimming session. The direct debit will continue as your child progresses through their stages so you don’t need to remember to make payments and your child’s place will be secure.
You can also pay in advance block payments with 10 consecutive lessons costing £64.60. With this option we will send you email reminders when you have 3, 2 and 1 lessons remaining. As long as you top up before your child’s 10th lesson, they won’t lose their place.

Prefer to do it in person, no problem, just pop in to any centre and we can get your child set up set up and booked on.

Awards and badges are a great way for your child to see the progress they are making, be proud of their achievements and stay motivated.
Each stage has several awards within it which your child must pass in order to progress. Click on the ‘Stages Explained’ buttons in the relevant lesson overview above to find out more.
Certificates and badges for all of the awards can be purchased from reception for £3.20.
We know it’s important for you to stay up to date with how your child is progressing on their lesson. We want our teachers to focus on the quality delivery of swimming lessons so they won’t always have time to speak individually to you after your child’s lesson.
So to make sure you are kept informed we make it easy by updating your child’s progress throughout their lesson to a digital platform which you can then view.
