Pedal Power at Active Blackpool
Helping Blackpool Get Back on Two Wheels
Pedal Power is Active Blackpool’s community bike project, helping get more people across Blackpool cycling.
We take donated bikes, give them a new lease of life, and match them with local people who need them, making it easier to get active, get around, and enjoy the many benefits of cycling.
Whether you’re looking for a bike, have one to donate, or simply want to get involved, Pedal Power is here to help keep Blackpool moving.
Can your old bike make a difference?
Your old bike could be the start of someone else’s journey. If you have an unused bike sitting in a shed, garage or storage space, Pedal Power can help give it a new purpose.
Donated bikes are refurbished and passed on to Blackpool residents who need affordable, reliable transport, helping them get to work, attend training, access essential services or simply enjoy the freedom of cycling.
Since launching, Pedal Power has helped more than 100 local residents by providing refurbished bikes and opening up new opportunities for active travel.
By donating a bike, you’re not only helping someone in your community, you’re also reducing waste and supporting a greener, more sustainable Blackpool.
Every bike donated can make a real difference. What you no longer need could help someone become more active, more independent and more connected to their local community.
What bikes can be donated?
How your donation makes a difference…
Every bike donated to Pedal Power is assessed, repaired where needed and safety checked before being matched with a resident. Through the support of our volunteers and partners, unwanted bikes are transformed into valuable community assets.
More than 100 refurbished bikes have already been provided to local people through the programme, and additional donations will help us support even more residents in the future.
By donating your bike, you’ll be helping to:
Support local residents in need
Reduce waste and prevent bikes going to landfill
Promote active travel across Blackpool
Improve health and wellbeing in the community
Create volunteering and skills development opportunities
Help Pedal Power continue to grow and reach more people

Could cycling change your everyday journey?
A bike can be much more than a way to get from A to B. It can help you improve your health, save money, build confidence and enjoy greater independence.
If the cost of a bike, lack of equipment or concerns about getting started have stopped you from cycling, Pedal Power is here to help. As well as providing refurbished bikes, the programme offers helmets, locks, cycle safety advice and friendly support to help you ride with confidence.
Whether you’re getting back on a bike after years away or trying cycling for the first time, you’ll receive guidance and encouragement every step of the way. Pedal Power is designed to make cycling more accessible for local residents who could benefit from affordable, active travel.
By getting on your bike, you could discover a healthier, cheaper and more enjoyable way to travel around Blackpool.
