Do you work with a family who you think we could help?
Who is the Active Families programme suitable for?
The Active Families programme is designed for families who would like support to make healthier choices and create positive lifestyle habits together. We know that family life can be busy, and making changes can sometimes feel overwhelming, which is why the programme focuses on simple, realistic steps that can fit into everyday life.
The programme is suitable for children who are above a healthy weight or may be at risk of becoming above a healthy weight. Our aim is to help families build confidence, improve wellbeing and develop healthy habits in a positive and supportive way, without focusing on diets or restrictions.
Families who join the programme should be willing to attend weekly sessions, where they will take part in fun activities, learn practical skills and receive guidance from experienced staff. Attending regularly helps families get the most out of the programme and provides an opportunity to build relationships with others on a similar journey.
We believe that healthy lifestyle changes work best when the whole family is involved, so sessions are designed to encourage families to learn, participate and make positive changes together.
Whether you’re looking for ideas to become more active, improve your family’s eating habits, boost confidence, or simply spend more quality time together, Active Families offers a welcoming and supportive environment to help you take the next step towards a healthier future.
What can families expect from the Active Families programme?
The Active Families programme is designed to be supportive, practical and enjoyable, helping families make positive lifestyle changes together. Each week, families take part in structured sessions led by friendly and experienced staff who create a welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable and included.
Sessions combine fun activities with useful information and practical tips that can be easily applied at home. Families will have the opportunity to try new activities together, learn about healthy eating, build confidence around being active, and explore simple ways to create healthier routines that work for their family.
We understand that every family’s journey is different, which is why the programme offers non-judgemental support throughout. There is no pressure or blame, just encouragement, understanding, and guidance to help families make small, positive changes at their own pace.
As families progress through the programme, we celebrate participation, achievements and milestones along the way, helping to build confidence and motivation.
When the programme ends, support doesn’t stop there. Families will be signposted to local activities, services and opportunities that can help them stay active, connected and continue their healthy lifestyle journey long after the programme has finished.
