Let us introduce you to Hyrdrohex….

Hydrohex is an all-new Aqua Fitness class that transforms the pool into a virtual training studio, combining modern technology with the power of water-based workouts.

Instead of a physical instructor, sessions are led by a virtual coach displayed on a large screen — allowing us to offer more classes, more often, and for a wider range of fitness levels.

Hydrohex will be coming to Palatine Leisure Centre on Monday 16 February.

The four types of Hydrohex classes

Hydrohex MOVE

Hydrohex MOVE is the traditional water workout that enhances your fitness, core strength, and mobility, all with the support of the water. This session allows you to exercise at your own pace, offering variations tailored to ensure success at your own tempo—whether you follow the music or not.

MOVE is an excellent low-intensity recovery session but can also be an effective high-level workout for those seeking a greater challenge.

Hydrohex CARDIO

Hydrohex CARDIO is designed to enhance your cardiovascular endurance. This interval-based workout challenges your heart, offering exciting and athletic combinations set to energetic music and motivating coaching.

The session helps improve your fitness through running, jumping, and strength exercises while building strength and boosting endurance. The fun and inspiring training makes it easy to keep coming back for more.

Hydrohex POWER

Hydrohex POWER is perfect for those looking to strengthen their entire body through water-based training. The focus is on building muscle, increasing strength, and shaping the body, with simple and effective exercises that avoid complex choreography.

The session includes circuit training centred on pushing, pulling, and working against water resistance, all while energising music keeps you motivated. Clear cardio segments ensure your heart rate stays elevated throughout the workout.

Hydrohex BEAT

Hydrohex BEAT is the perfect blend of rhythm, joy, and exercise! This dance-inspired session lets you shine with various styles and movements while building choreographies that keep you energised and motivated.

BEAT focuses on big, dynamic movements that boost both your confidence and your body, all while uplifting and inspiring music keeps you going.

The benefits of Hydrohex classes

Working out in water provides many benefits to your health, helping to strengthen your muscles, improve your cardiovascular fitness and burns calories.

Low-Impact Exercise

The impact on your joints is significantly decreased in water. With the buoyancy of the water supporting your body and reducing the load on your muscles and joints, you can take part in a Hydrohex class that is gentle on your body, but still very effective exercise.

This is beneficial for everybody, but can be particularly helpful if you are recovering from an injury or suffer from joint pain or arthritis.

Increased Resistance

Water creates a natural resistance to movements, creating a dynamic workout environment where your muscles have to work harder to move through it following the movements of the on screen instructor.

The resistance can help you to increase your cardiovascular capacity, improve your endurance, build your strength and increase your muscle mass whilst minimising the risk of injuries associated with traditional resistance training.

Calorie Burning

Watching the exercises on screen may make them look gentle, but aqua classes such as Hydrohex are actually among the most effective for burning calories and fat. The constant, 360-degree resistance of water significantly boosts your calorie expenditure.

Most people will burn between 300 and 500 calories during a typical session, depending on how intense you are being.
