Active Blackpool’s fitness classes
Not sure what fitness class would suit you? We offer a range of strength, cardio, mind-body, and dance-based activities, with a diverse timetable designed to cater to every fitness preference and goal.
A well-rounded fitness routine is key to overall health, and that’s why combining different exercise types is so effective. Functional strength training – think Boot Camp – is crucial for building and maintaining muscle mass, which not only boosts your metabolism and makes daily tasks easier but also strengthens bones and improves joint stability.
Cardio exercises – like Rhythm Ride – increase your stamina, improve lung capacity, and aid in weight management.
Mind-body activities like Yoga and Tai Chi enhance flexibility, balance, and core strength, while also reducing stress and improving mental clarity.
How to match a class to your fitness goals
If you’re looking to build strength, try our Functional Fitness classes, for a great full body workout using a range of equipment including kettlebells and dumbbells.
BodyBalance (available as an instructor-led or virtual class) is a holistic workout that combines elements of yoga, Tai Chi, and Pilates, so it’s perfect for body and mind! You’ll be taken through various poses, stretches, and flows which are great for flexibility, balance, and strength. If you’d like to improve your posture and strengthen your core, this is a great class for you.
Our Abs Blast, Yoga, and Pilates classes are fantastic for enhancing core strength and balance. For those who like to get their heart rate up, we also offer Virtual Les Mills Dance classes. For a more rhythmic and expressive workout, you’ll love our Clubbercise classes which turn exercise into a full-on party.
Aqua Aerobics classes are incredibly popular and are low impact, which reduces joint impact whilst supporting your cardiovascular health.
Whatever your goals, you’ll find a class to push you, with a mix of resistance and cardio exercises, adapting to all fitness levels.
Top tips for trying your first class
To get ready for your first class, you’ll need to feel comfortable. You don’t need to buy anything new or fancy; just wear some trainers which properly support your feet, a vest or T-shirt and some shorts, joggers, or stretchy leggings if you’re doing an exercise class in one of our studios. For the pool, you’ll just need a swimming costume or trunks – and don’t forget your towel!
Make sure you arrive a little earlier than your booked class, in case you need to speak to the instructor or get yourself prepared with equipment before the class starts.
And don’t worry, there’s no need to be fighting fit before you start as we will support anyone, whatever their experience level, to get started.
