Checking in for your pre-booked classes is now easier than ever
You’ve been on a waiting list for a class all day but haven’t been able to get a place, your friend is booked on and after the class tells you that some people didn’t turn up so there were actually places available.
We know this has been happening far more often than it should, and that it’s incredibly frustrating, so we’ve been working with our software providers to find a way to help deal with this problem.
Let us tell you about how we’re going to do it.
Making check in easier…
To help deal with congestion at reception we are introducing new class check in tiles which will work in conjunction with the Active Blackpool app.
There will be three tiles at each centre, one in reception, one at the entrance to the Exercise Studio and one at the entrance to the Indoor Cycling Studio to ensure they are available where you need them.
To use a class check in tile, you will need to be logged in to the Active Blackpool app on your phone. A new button will be on the centres homepage and will open a QR code scanner. When scanned you will know that this has been successful as a confirmation message will appear. If there has been a problem with checking you in, you’ll see a different message to make sure you know.
Using these tiles is not compulsory or required, if you prefer to continue to check in with one of our receptionists or use the kiosk, that’s no problem, as long as you are checking in somewhere.

What we'll be following this up with…
Introducing another way to check in will not solve the problem, we know this, but it will allow us to introduce enforcement action confident in the knowledge that all members are able to record their attendance.
The introduction of a new Booking Cancellation Policy will be the next step in this process and will follow next month.
We’ll share the full policy and more details about it in the coming weeks, but it will be a three strike policy that uses non-attendance data. This is why it’s really important that you are checking in every time you attend a class.
We hope that you like the changes we are making and
