Blackpool's Summer of Cycling Starts Here!
Blackpool is gearing up for a summer of cycling as the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women comes to town on 20 August.
To celebrate, Active Blackpool is partnering with British Cycling to host a Family Cycling Festival at Solaris Park on the day and a programme of free cycling activities for all ages and abilities during the summer.
From learning to ride and led rides to bike maintenance and family events, there are plenty of opportunities to get active, build confidence and enjoy the benefits of cycling.

Racing to the Seafront – The Lloyds Tour of Britain Women’s Race Comes to Blackpool!
Active Blackpool is proud to be bringing the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women’s Race to town as Stage Two races to a thrilling finish on the Promenade on Thursday 20 August.
The 110.5km Lancashire stage starts off in Clitheroe with the riders taking on a challenging set of hill climbs in the Forest of Bowland as part of the stages 1,392m of ascent.
The route then flattens out and heads west towards the coast, passing through Whalley, Longridge, and Broughton, before heading south at Singleton towards Lytham St. Annes.
The riders will then endure a sprint finish onto Blackpool’s famous promenade, finishing alongside the iconic Mirror Ball, the perfect place to watch the world’s best cycling stars dazzle on the Lancashire roads.

Family Cycling Festival

The Family Cycling Festival is a free community event for people of all ages and abilities, with a range of cycling-themed activities, opportunities to get on a bike, and the chance to soak up the atmosphere of one of the UK’s biggest cycling events.
One highlight of the day is the opportunity to ride on a traffic-free, closed-road circuit before watching the world’s best cyclists race to the finish line on the same roads. Whether you’re an experienced rider, a beginner, or simply looking for a fun family day out, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

Thinking about getting back on a bike or learning to ride for the first time? Our Have a Go at Cycling sessions are a fun, friendly way to build confidence and develop your cycling skills in a supportive environment.
Suitable for all ages and abilities, these family-friendly sessions are led by an experienced instructor who will help you learn the basics, improve your technique, and gain confidence on two wheels. Whether you’re a complete beginner or simply looking to brush up on your skills, everyone is welcome.

Get Active with Family Led Bike Rides!

Enjoy a fun, family-friendly bike ride and explore Blackpool’s cycling network together. These led rides are designed for families of all ages and abilities, offering a relaxed way to build confidence, stay active, and enjoy the outdoors.
Led by experienced ride leaders, the rides use Blackpool’s segregated cycle paths and low-traffic routes, creating a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you’re a regular rider or looking to spend more time cycling as a family, these rides are a great opportunity to get out on two wheels and make lasting memories together.

Free Bike Fixing Sessions
Whether your bike has been sitting in the shed or just needs a quick tune-up, our free Bike Fixing Sessions are here to help you get back on two wheels with confidence.
Our experienced cycle mechanic will carry out a basic safety check, make minor repairs and adjustments, and offer practical advice on keeping your bike in good working order. If any additional work is needed, we’ll let you know and point you in the right direction.
