Our Exercise Referral Classes are designed to help you engage in safe, enjoyable and effective physical activity, tailored to your unique health needs.
Exercising with a group of like-minded people, led by experienced, qualified instructors, each session provides a supportive environment where you can work at your own pace and receive guidance whilst you are on the Exercise Referral Programme.
Through gradual, achievable progressions, our classes will empower you to develop confidence, reach your personal goals and enjoy the many benefits of an active lifestyle.
You can find a bit more about what classes are available on the programme below.
General Classes
These classes are suitable for most participants on the Exercise Referral Programme.
To ensure your safety, please only book onto a class if you’ve discussed it with your instructor.
Referral Pilates
Blending strength and flexibility training, you’ll also improve your breathing control, coordination and balance with the low impact, slow and controlled conditioning exercises in this class.
If your goal is weight loss, toning, strength and conditioning or just improving your general wellbeing, then Pilates is for you.
Your instructor will demonstrate modifications for all the exercises in the class to make sure it’s suitable for everyone regardless of ability.
Referral Zumba
It’s time to ditch the dull routines and join the party with this fusion of Latin international rhythms and easy-to-follow moves.
You’ll be dancing your way through this calorie burning total body cardio workout that’s great if your goal is weight loss or general fitness; taking the ‘work’ out of workout!
If you’re looking for the fun but want something slightly lower paced, Zumba Gold keeps the atmosphere but modifies the moves to make it suitable for those with a little less mobility.
Referral Ride
Ride into activity with this indoor cycling class to work on your lower body strength and cardio fitness, whilst being low impact on your joints.
Guided by your instructor, you’ll change the resistance of your bike and speed of your pedalling to go on a journey in this inclusive class.
Your instructor will help you build your stamina but make sure you’re working within your ability. When it comes to classes, this one’s as easy as riding a bike!
Referral Step to Health
Focus on building strength and improving cardiovascular fitness in this class combining step movements and light resistance exercises
Working in timed intervals, set by your instructor, you’ll exercise at your own station at a pace and with weights that are right for you.
The class is also great for enhancing your balance as you take your first steps into a more active life.

These sessions are designed to support you if you’ve never been to the gym before…or if it’s been a while, and help you transition to more independent exercise.
Our instructors will be on hand to offer guidance on how to use equipment that might be new to you and make sure your exercises are appropriate for your medical history.
